Today’s episode is remarkable story of overcoming adversity.  Ria Story is a successful woman who has authored 10 books, co-authored another 20, earned three degrees, had a high-level position in her organization, and now is an entrepreneur and motivational speaker.  We talk about her latest book, Bridges Out of the Past: A Survivor’s Lessons on Resilience.  In it, she recounts that despite her successful image, she had been keeping a secret for many years from most of the people that knew her.  It wasn’t until she attended a seminar where participants were requested to do what seemed like a simple assignment that she finally revealed her past.  Ria confessed to a conference-room of people that she was a survivor of seven years of sexual abuse by her father that started when she was 12.  As difficult as that was, she said that at that moment she had found her calling.  Her purpose, she says, is to continue to share her story, realizing that if she could help just one person, it would be worth it.  She has since changed careers and now helps others learn to develop resiliency and overcome their own adversities.  This is Ria’s story…
